You have worked hard to have a positive impact on mental health or wellbeing through your strategy, policies, initiative, working practices or even interventions. We know and understand the sheer drive, determination and effort it takes to have this impact and we want to recognise your work.
With Deloitte reporting that poor mental wellbeing costs employers in the UK an estimated £42 billion to £45 billion annually through presenteeism, sickness absence and staff turnover, it is more important than ever that companies are proactive in addressing this issue.
Whilst you may see many charters or pledges out there, these are only promises being made. They represent the desire and potential to do something about wellbeing. However, stated willingness to act does not provide evidence of the work and impact that you have already been making. This is where mental health accreditation standards play their part, by providing verified evidence of the efforts and results of your organisation’s work.
The Mental Health Tick addresses this by accrediting you based on the evidence which you can provide as real proof of what you have done. By using the Microaccreditation model, we split the full accreditation into specific areas for you to present your efforts and outcomes in order to be assessed. These elements are then combined in order to give an overall assessment, allowing us to independently accredit you at bronze, silver or gold levels.
Within the Mental Health and Wellbeing Tick Accreditation there are 12 Microaccreditation standards which your organisation will be assessed on. Each can be applied for separately through our portal, giving you full control over your journey towards the full accreditation.
To give you a bit of an idea of how we will consider the evidence which you provide: ‘mental health’ is taken as a spectrum from positive to negative, with poor mental health at end. Meanwhile, a ‘mental health difficulty’ is when someone is unable to cope with their poor mental health. Additionally, ‘wellbeing’ can include mental health, physical health, or even financial health. Wellbeing initiatives seek to maintain wellbeing; mental health provision seeks to offer support to those experiencing difficulties.
